BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 30. Volume of Iran’s non-oil exports from the Bilasuvar border terminal in the Ardabil Province, located in the northwest of the country, rose by 12 percent in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2023), compared to the same period previous year, head of Bilasuvar border terminal Lotfollah Babaei said, Trend reports.
According to him, about 295,000 tons of non-oil products were exported from the mentioned terminal in 7 months, while the figure was 222,000 tons in the same period last year.
Babaei said that the main products exported from Bilasuvar border terminal were agricultural and food products, construction materials, etc.
The customs official added that most of the exports from Bilasuvar went to Azerbaijan, Russia, and Georgia.
The Bilasuvar border terminal in Ardabil province of Iran is located on the border with Azerbaijan. This border terminal operates in order to develop Iran's trade with Azerbaijan, as well as Georgia and Russia through Azerbaijan.
Iran’s non-oil exports do not include crude oil, mazut, and white oil, which are subject to US sanctions that prevent Iran from exporting them freely. Therefore, Iran has been focusing on increasing its non-oil exports to cope with the economic pressure.
