BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 21. Iran will use all its opportunities to strengthen trade cooperation in the Caspian Sea, said Alireza Jahangiri, assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Caspian Sea issues, Trend reports.
He made the remark at a meeting with the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture in Golestan Province located in the north-east of Iran.
Jahangiri said that Iran considers the Caspian Sea as a source of economic and trade opportunities.
He added that the Iranian officials have visited the Caspian countries in the past two years (since the current government took office in August 2021) to enhance economic cooperation in the region, and that the trade volume between the Caspian countries is expected to grow further.
The official also stressed the importance of the three Iranian coastal provinces (Golestan, Mazandaran and Gilan) for expanding exports to the markets of the Caspian countries.
Jahangiri urged the Iranian private sector to take advantage of the opportunities in the region, and assured them of the government’s support.
The Caspian littoral states are Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
