Iran’s imports from EAEU member countries rising

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 6. Iran’s import from the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), rose by 10 percent in value and 22 percent in volume in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), compared with the same period last year, said Rouhollah Latifi, an official of the Central Union of Rural and Agricultural Cooperatives of Iran, Trend reports.

Latifi also said that Iran imported 2.39 million tons of goods worth $1.27 billion from EAEU member countries (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia) in the specified period.

The official added that Iran imported 2.23 million tons of goods worth about $1.14 billion from Russia, 106,000 tons worth $47.6 million from Kazakhstan, 19,400 tons worth about $44 million from Belarus, followed by the rest of the EAEU states.

He noted that 71 percent of Iran's total imports in value and 84 percent in volume accounted for agricultural and food products.

Meanwhile, Iran’s non-oil trade turnover with EAEU member states for the reporting period stood at 5.2 million tons worth $2.34 billion, which is an increase of 14 percent in value and 33.5 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Overall, Iran imported 24.7 million tons of goods worth $42.2 billion in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023). This is an increase of 12.3 percent in value and 4.32 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
