Cargo handling at Iran’s Anzali port rises

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 2. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Anzali port in Gilan Province (northern Iran) grew by 32 percent in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), compared with the same period last year, Director General of Gilan Province’s Ports and Maritime Department Hossein Younesi said, Trend reports.

According to Younesi, 1.48 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Anzali port for 9 months.

He added that 250,000 tons of petrochemical products and construction materials were exported through Anzali port in the specified period, which is an increase of 55 percent compared to the same period last year.

The official also said that 1.2 million tons of grain, cooking oil, wood and iron materials were imported through Anzali port in 9 months, representing a 55-percent increase from the same period last year.

Reportedly, Iran's Anzali port is considered one of Iran's main ports on the Caspian Sea. The annual loading and unloading capacity of this port is 6.15 million tons.
