BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 28. The non-oil exports from Iran’s Hormozgan Province’s eastern ports have seen a significant increase of 26 percent in the first eleven months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through February 19, 2024), said Hamid Reza Mohammad Hosseini, the Director of Shahid Bahonar Ports and Maritime Department, Trend reports.
During this period, the ports have successfully exported a total of 1.25 million tons of non-oil goods. Additionally, the ports have handled a combined cargo volume of 2.12 million tons, according to Mohammad Hosseini.
Moreover, the director highlighted that the ports have experienced a 23 percent increase in transit cargo, amounting to approximately 59,700 tons, directed to adjacent nations within the same timeframe.
Mohammad Hosseini also noted the transit of 3,814 vehicles, including buses, minibuses, trucks, and passenger cars, through the Shahid Bahonar port to destinations such as Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iraq, among others.
The official further stated that there was an 11 percent increase in ship dockings at these ports, with a total of 55,847 vessels during the eleven-month period.
The eastern ports of Hormozgan Province, which include nine active ports like Shahid Bahonar, Tiyab, and Jask, are pivotal in promoting regional trade and transportation. These advancements are a testament to Iran’s commitment to improving its maritime infrastructure and stimulating economic growth in the area.
