“Alliance of Cities” project to start in November

The “Alliance of Cities” project, funded by the Asian Bank of Development (ABD) will start in late November, the ABD Baku office told Trend.

"The project is a joint grant project by UNDP and the government of Israel and is managed from the part of Azerbaijan by the Secretariat of the State Program on Poverty Reduction and Economic Development (SPPRED). The project’s goal is improvement of the planned activities with involvement of all parties concerned in three regional towns: Sheki, Gyandja and Mingechevir.

The “Alliance of Cities” project is targeted at the strategy of development of the city and regions on the pilot basis in three regional towns. The project is supposed to last 1,5 years, and the consulting centers will be established in Sheki, Gyandja and Mingechevir for its implementation. The consulting team will work in close cooperation with the local public, other participants and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to facilitate the wording of the vision. This pilot project is supposed to assist in implementation of the State Program on Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development, designed for 10 years.
