Overestimation of the Gazakh-Georgian border highway will be completed till late 2005, which will allow determining the volume of the required investments, the Azerbaijani
Transport Ministry told Trend. The Azerbaijani government is currently holding negotiations with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on implementation of the project on reconstruction of the western sections Yevlakh-Ganja and Gazakh-Georgian border of the highway. The total amount of the investment is supposed to be around $52m. The Gazakh-Georgian border section will be financed only by ADB, while construction of the Yevlakh-Ganja section will be carried out at expense of co-financing.
The total length of the highway comprises 520km, while the total value - $300m. The Baku-Alat section was reconstructed in 2001 at expense of the government, the work on the Alyat-Hajigabul section was also completed at expense of the Islam Development Bank and Kuwaiti Fund.
