Talks on Azerbaijan’s entrance to WTO due in 2006

Next round of talks on Azerbaijan’s entrance the World Trade Organization (WTO) will be held in February-March 2006, Mahmud Mammad-Guliyev, the Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister, told Trend.

According to Mammad-Guliyev, in the current stage Azerbaijan should answer WTO’s questions on trade regime in the country. Then bilateral and multilateral talks with the member-countries f the organization will be held. Azerbaijan has launched bilateral talks with the United States, Canada, and EU, he underlined. The WTO commitments set for Azerbaijan are the liberalization of trade and removal of the obstacles. The liberalization of trade is one of the difficult terms of the WTO, the diplomat said. Full liberalization of trade could lead to discrimination, he added.
