UniBank increased the number of plastic card it issues considerably in the first quarter of 2006, taking it to 10 781 by the end of the first quarter of the year. It is noteworthy that the number of plastic cards that the Bank had issued by 1 April 2006 represented an increase by 72.11% from 1 April 2005, Trend reports.
The Bank has been issuing the local cards as well as the VISA Electron, VISA Classic, VISA GOLD and VISA Business since the beginning of this year
It should be remembered that UniBank became a principal member of VISA International in February 2006, which came as the fruit of co-operation between the Bank and this payment system that had lasted for longer than two years, while also being the result of successful implementation of the card-related strategic plans of UniBank. The principal VISA membership will enable UniBank to pursue an independent political course, set up immediate partnership relations with VISA International, become a VISA acquirer and act as a sponsor to the associate members.
