(autoinsidernews) - The Holden Commodore is officially heading to the United States where it will wear a Pontiac badge, according to Australia's Drive. In an effort to develop a rival to BMW, a version of the Holden Commodore will be unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show next year, reports Trend.
Speaking at the Paris Motor Show, GM's product czar, Bob Lutz was beaming as he did more than hint that everyone should come to the Chicago Auto Show and all will be revealed.
The rear-wheel drive Commodore will provide a real sports-sedan for Pontiac. The Commodore platform is also expected to spawn more rear-wheel drive cars, including a new Chevrolet Camaro based on the concept from the this year's Detroit Auto Show. The Pontiac Commodore, which is expected to wear a different name, rumored to be be either the G8 or Grand Prix names, when it goes on sale in the States in 2007.
