A project on carrying liquefied gas from Turkmenistan is of a great interest to us. However, there is no enough number of cistern cars aimed at carrying liquefied gas either in Azerbaijan, or in Turkmenistan, Arif Asgarov, Chief of the Azerbaijan State Railway Company

The State Railways has never had such cars in its balance. They have belonged to the plants of the oil and chemical complex. However, their number is insufficient as well about 200 units. At present, the State Railways has no means to acquire these cisterns. There are interested businessmen who want to carry liquefied gas. They should acquire these cisterns themselves, pointed out Mr. Asgarov. This project is under consideration in the State railway Company now.

At present, within the transport corridor TRASECA, a preparation for a project on carrying liquefied gas from Turkmenistan via the transport corridor to Europe is underway. The first stage envisages carrying gas in cisterns by means of train-ferries. A possibility on building the tanker fleet aimed at this project is expected to be considered in the future, TRASECA pointed out.

The project is expected to be presented for first time at a seminar within a project on preparation of specialists on carrying danger loads via the transport corridor TRASECA to be held in Istanbul on November 2-3, 2006.
