Azeri Delegation Participating in a Ministerial Conference of CAREC Program

An Azerbaijani delegation left for Urumchi city of China to attend the 5th Ministerial conference of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC), to be held trough 20 October 2006.

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development informed Trend that the delegation includes Samir Veliyev, the head of Apparat of the Ministry, and the chief of the Department for International Cooperation and Investments, Elshan Mammadzade, as well as representatives from the Transport Ministry, The State Customs Committee, the Agency for Standardization, Certification and Patent.

The minister will view a complex action plan for leadership of the strategic government of CAREC and mull the methods of intensifying the major force of regional cooperation in the Central Asia and neighboring countries of the Asian Development Bank.

Attending are the Government officials from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, People's Republic of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan; as well as representatives from ADB, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, IMF, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), World Bank, and GTZ. The President of ADB, Kharukhiko Kurod, will deliver keynote to the forum.

CAREC program unites 8 member-countries: Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The program is implemented with support from the ADB, the EBRD, IMF, IBD, UNDP and WB.
