(autoinsidernews) - According to reports, GM Europe's president, Carl-Peter Forster, has said that the Vectra name will likely disappear when the next-generation arrives in summer 2008. As part of GM's plan to integrate Opel and Saturn, the Opel Vectra is the basis for the Saturn sedan, reports Trend.
Forster said the all-new model would be a radical departure from the current car. The Vectra name would be dropped to reflect this dramatic change.
GM has not commented on what the replacement will be called, but Insignia seems to be the front-runner.
