Azerbaijan Customs Committee Revealed 5,326 Infringements in 2006

The Azerbaijan State Customs Committee revealed 5,326 facts of law infringements in 2006, Trend reports referring to a message spread by the Committee today.

181 facts out of the total 5,326 were of criminal nature. 185 persons, including 62 foreigners were detained as suspects.

Currency contraband and currency resources were mainly the reason of the crimes revealed. The Azerbaijan Customs Bodies found 2 kg 485 grams of gold, 10 kg 830 grams of silver, and $193485 worth of subjects of the infringement.

Due to the illegal drug trafficking and trade, 44 facts were revealed resulting in finding 13 kg 322,56 grams of drug, including 3 kg 187,497 grams of opium, 8 kg 717,57 grams of marijuana, 854,893 grams of heroine, 62 grams of hashish, 1,364 items of psychotropic substances (ampoules, capsules, pills).

In 2006, 5,145 administrative violations revealed, 877 legal persons were brought to administrative responsibility (including 234 foreigners) and 4,268 physical persons (including 673 foreigners).

According to the facts, fines to the sum of over 569,747 manats were applied to the people who infringed the law. Goods to the total sum of 467,711 manats were confiscated. Six administrative infringements were linked with avoiding the custom control, 87 ones вЂ" illegal crossing the border, 301 вЂ" non-avowal, 124 вЂ" temporary importation, 43 вЂ" import without excise marks, etc.

The State Customs Committee found 169,6 kg of black caviar, 33,7 kg of red caviar, 3,427 liters of oil products, 16,5 kg of coffee dangerous for health, which was made in Armenia, 13,477 religious books, 314,890 items of pyrotechnical products, and other goods in a great volume.
