In 2006 the volume of output of nonmetallic mineral matters in Azerbaijan increased by 0.7%. According to the State Statistics Committee, output of the main types of products such as cement, bricks, lime, and structural glass increased in the country. At present, 94.6% of the constructional materials fall to the private sector, Trend reports. Cement production beat the record in Azerbaijan in that period comprising 1,555,000 tons.
In 2006 the number of people employed in this field reached 5,748 persons, over 14% more than the corresponding period of the last year. The average wage of the workers was 138 AZN in this period.
