( autoinsidernews ) - For those of you that find the standard Gallardo just a little too slow, Lamborghini has revealed the 'purists' Gallardo - the Superleggera. The Superleggera features extra 10-hp coming from freer-flowing intake and exhaust, and remapped electronic control. To go with the additional horsepower, the Superleggera goes on a diet, weighing in at 154 pounds less in the U.S. ( 220 lbs. less in Europe). The weight loss is the result of a new carbon fiber and polycarbonate engine cover, other new carbon fiber pieces - rear diffuser and underbody covering, mirrors, door panels and central tunnel covering - and replacing some glass components with polycarbonate parts. Inside, the Superleggera gets monocoque carbon fiber sports seats.
With the new carbon fiber and plastic parts, the Superleggera weighs in at just 3,152 pounds. With the additional horsepower and lighter weight, the Superleggera can sprint from zero to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds, 0.2 seconds less than the standard Gallardo.
