Trend I.Khalilova / The Minister of Economic Development of Azerbaijan, Heydar Babayev, said on 12 April that the negotiations between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Administration of the Kurgan Region of Russia were success. As a result of the meeting, agreements and a protocol are expected to be signed between the Government of Azerbaijan and Kurgan Region with regards to commercial and economical, scientific-technical, and cultural co-operation.
The Russian delegation was informed of the progress in the Kurgan Region, including the situation with the development of economy and growth of industrial production. "On 13 April they intend to hold a broad presentation of the products manufactured in Kurgan and its potentials. We defined our interests in these products and on 13 April they will inform us of the technical conditions and prices," the Minister said.
The delegation comprises of nearly sixty people, including businessmen producing fire technology and pipelines. "A wide assortment of high quality industrial products is manufactured in Kurgan," Mr. Babayev said.
As a result of 2006, the trade turnover between Kurgan and Azerbaijan amounted to $4mln. According to the Azerbaijani Minister, it is neither such a big nor such a small figure, but both sides are interested in increasing the indicators because it will positively affect the gross trade turnover with Russia.
