Alliances of Exporters of Fruit Juices and Forestry Walnuts in Azerbaijan to Begin Activities without Legal Registration

Business Materials 14 April 2007 11:30 (UTC +04:00)

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / The President of Azerbaijan Export and Investment Foundation (AZPROMO), Emil Majidov, said that AZPROMO plans to organize a meeting of the exporters of the fruit juices and forestry walnuts in April.

"Yet we will not make a legal registration of the alliances of these exporters, but will hold a presentation and launch the export alliances informally, i.e. without registration. I consider that it is an accurate way because we have already studied this sphere and we want the businessmen themselves to raise the question requiring a solution," Head of Foundation said.

The issue of regulating the activities of the alliances still remains open. According to Mejidov, the goal of AZPROMO is to trust this function on the business leaders.

The key goal is to unify the efforts of the juice producers to settle the problems which have been observed in the industry of juice production for a long time. The problems are also observed with regards to the technological standards. Presently production in Azerbaijan is carried out without modern technologies. After creation of the alliance, a new Azerbaijani brend will be applied not to advertise the juices of the concrete manufacturers. This brend will have its quality sign. If the products are marked with this sign, they will have to be manufactured in accordance with the European standards. In addition, the alliances will be involved in marketing and directing Azerbaijani juices to the foreign markets.

The first task of the alliances will be to resolve the problems with aflatoxin and organize its production according to the European standards. The European experts are expected to visit Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2007 to provide assistance in this process. They should assess the process of producing, keeping and transporting walnut in the Country. The support will be provided within the technical assistance of the German Society of Technical Assistance (GTZ).
