Azerbaijani Public Budget Fulfilled with Surplus

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / As of 1 April 2007, the factual incomes to the revenue part of the State budget of Azerbaijan amounted to AZN 1086.8 mln (21.1% of GDP), an increase of 65% or AZN 428.1 mln as compared with the figures of last year.

The expenditures of the State budget increased by 25.6% and made up AZN 834.6 mln (16.2% of GDP). The surplus of the budget for January-March totaled AZN 252.2 mln (4.9% of GDP). Some 72.2% (AZN 784.8 mln) of the revenue part of the State budget have been covered at the expense of the Taxes Ministry. Revenues from the customs duties amounted to AZN 166.1 mln.

For the reported period, AZN 245.6 mln have been received from VAT (22.6% of gross revenues), AZN 376.4 mln (34.6%) - profit tax, AZN 119.1 mln (10.9%) income tax, AZN 60.4 mln (5.6%) - excise tax, AZN 67.6 mln (6.2%) - taxes for external-economical activities. In January 2007, AZN 151.9 mln (18.2%) have been spend on social provision and protection of population, AZN 122.6 mln (14.7%) - education, AZN 33.7 mln (4%) - health, AZN 71 mln (8.5%) - bodies of prosecutor's offices, security, law enforcement bodies and courts, AZN 211.4 mln (25.3%) - investment to the economy of the country, AZN 10.1 mln (1.2%) - housing and communal services, AZN 172.6 mln (20.7%) - industry and construction, AZN 21.9 mln (2.6%) - agriculture, forest economy and fishing. 41.6% (AZN 347.1 mln) have been spent on payment of salaries, pensions and allowances.
