Next Military Echelon to be Sent from Georgia to Russia via Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Aliyev / The Defense Ministry of Georgia informs that the next echelon with Russian military equipment will be sent from Georgia to Russia via Azerbaijan on 7 June.

According to the information provided by the State Railway Department of Azerbaijan (SRDA), on 31 May Russia's next military echelon from Georgian will pass via Azerbaijan. The echelon transports sixty units of ordnance bullet and spare parts of ordnance equipment. This is the second echelon sent this year. Generally nineteen military echelons are planned to be sent from Georgia to Russia. The process began last year and will be completed in 2008.

The SRDA informs that last year the Russian side appealed to Azerbaijan for transporting 400 trains with military technology via Azerbaijan in 2007. However, afterwards the number of the trains was increased. The echelons are transported according to the security requirements adopted by the CIS and Azerbaijan.
