Azerbaijan Retains Leading Position in Rate of Industrial Growth Among CIS Countries

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / Azerbaijan took first place among CIS countries in the rate of industrial growth in January-April, 2007, according to the CIS Inter-State Statistical Committee.

Azerbaijan retains the leading position among CIS countries, with the index of industrial growth being 36.6%.

Second place is occupied by Ukraine (12.5% rate of growth), third by Kazakhstan (9.5%) and fourth by Russia (7.5%). Industrial production in Tajikistan in January-April increased by 7.4%, in Belarus by 6.7%, in Kyrgyzstan by 2.5% and in Armenia by 1.7%.

Decrease in industrial production occurred in Moldavia (6.4%).

On average, industrial production in CIS countries from January-April, 2007 increased by 9%, compared to the same period of 2006. Data on the dynamics of industrial production in Georgia, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan is not available.
