Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr U. Ismayilova / In January-May, the Jalilabad Branch of the Azerbaijan State Protection Foundation has paid off pensions in the sum of AZN 6,290,050, the head of Jalilabad branch, Miraga Salmanov, reported to the Respublika newspaper.
According to Salmanov, in 2006, pensions were paid off in the sum of AZN 9,645,100. "Average monthly amount of pensions increased during the year from AZN 45.6 to AZN 55.73," he said.
Presently, 6,711 pensioners (30.6%) in the Jalilabad region receive their pensions through plastic cards to be withdrawn from four cash machines. From the total of 17,421 pensioners residing in villages, 2,123 receive their pensions via plastic cards.
