Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Aliyev / Currently the enlightenment work is very low with regards to the intellectual property in Azerbaijan. The Deputy Head of the Agency for Author Rights of Azerbaijan, Oktay Samadov, said on 26 July that the nearly 90% of the video and audio products in Azerbaijan is piratical. "It testifies that the rights of intellectual property are very roughly violated in Azerbaijan," he said.

According to him, the World Trade Organization is a very reliable organization. The countries face many requirements whilst joining the WTO. "One of the key requirements, maybe the first one, is the fight against piracy," he said.

The Agency for Author Rights of Azerbaijan has devised a draft law to ensure author rights and fight against piracy.

According to him, the draft law has been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers, which in its turn, has forwarded it to the consideration of the ministries and departments. After the ministries make proposals on the draft law, the Agency will re-device and submit it to the Parliament within autumn session. After the draft law is adopted, each State body will have strong legislative base to fight against piracy.
