Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. P.Aliyeva, S.Babayeva / The South region of Azerbaijan, particularly Lankaran, has great economic potential, said the Ambassador of Germany to Azerbaijan, Per Cristopher Stanchina.
In compliance with the ambassador's statement made during the conference on 9 August which was devoted to the regional development of Lankaran, he stated that his country is ready to offer assistance to Azerbaijan in the development of tourism and agriculture. This issue was discussed at the meeting with the head of Executive Administration of Lankaran region, Suleyman Mikayilov.
The conference is being held by the German GTZ technical cooperation jointly with the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development.
The aim of the conference of 'Prospects of Lankaran' is to strengthen discussions amongst entrepreneurs, government bodies, finance and education to reveal and solve these problems. The conference plans to hold discussions amongst representatives of the government, embassies, international organizations, financial structures and private sector, as well as to provide assistance in the exchange of views between entrepreneurs in relevant spheres. Together with the conference, the opening ceremony of the Lankaran Business Centre will be held on 10 August.
GTZ is planning to hold similar conferences in other regions of Azerbaijan.
