Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Babaeva / An Azerbaijani delegation will take part in the third regional workshop on the protection of varieties of plants of the central Asian region of the The International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV). The delegation includes Asad Musayev, the Director General of Agrarian Scientific Center of the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry and Fazil Pashayev, the chairman of the state commission on varieties of plants.
The event will be held in Issik-Kul, Kazakhstan, from 10 to 14 September with the participation of representatives from Middle Asian countries, Azerbaijan, Japan, Pakistan and Mongolia.
Musaev will deliver a report on the creation of varieties and the rules of their delivery to the state commission on varieties of plants. Pashaev will speak about the rules and procedures of conducting such experience in Azerbaijan.
UPOV is an International organization with headquarters located in Geneva. UPON was established by the International Convention on the protection of new varieties of plants, which was signed in Paris in 1961 and enacted into law in 1968. Azerbaijan became a member of this organization in 2004.
