Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend A.Badalova / Rovnag Abdullayev, the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), said that by 2010 there are plans to build 6 platforms on the big Azerbaijani oil field Oil Rocks, where 78 wells will be drilled.
This year the oil production from the field exceeded 923,000 tons. Thanks to the construction of a new platform, SOCAR succeeded to raise the average daily amount of oil production from the field to 2,670 tons from 2,250 tons. Since the beginning of 2007 12 new wells were put into exploitation. By the end of the year their numbers will be increased to 19. Over the past 8 years the Oil Rocks Oil and Gas Production Unit has lifted 625,418 tons of oil.
