Oil&Gas Materials 24 September 2007 19:02 (UTC +04:00)

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Aliyev / Azerbaijan's JSC Azerigaz terminated its gas supply to Georgia due to the low pressure in the pipeline.

"It is a temporary measure and was taken to complete the reconstruction of the pipeline, which will provide an opportunity to increase the pressure from the current 7-8 to 12 atmosphere," a Government source stated.

Azerigaz was supplying Georgia with some 1.3 mln. cu. m. of gas to Georgia per day, with $120 per 1.000 cu. m. After completion of the reconstruction on the pipeline, its carrying capacity may increase up to 8mln cu.m of gas per day. This month nearly 16mln cu.m of its own gas, Azerbaijani gas and 18mln cu.m of gas from Shah Deniz field were delivered to Georgia.

Currently Georgia is receiving nearly 1mln cu.m of Azerbaijani gas per day from the Shah Deniz field.

The contract on gas delivery from Azerbaijan to Georgia will conclude on 1 October. The contract was signed with Azerigaz. After the completion of the contract with Azerigaz, a new contract may be signed between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan and the Georgian side.
