Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr A. Badalova / Turkey is fortifying its positions as a bridge linking Europe and Asia to receive a part of Caspian gas. Not having of our own gas production, the only thing we can rely on is Turkey's geographical factor - Turkey's position in the region," the Manager General of Turkey's Botas company, Saltuk Duzyol, said to PIW. But that does not mean Turkey is striving to become the main trader and re-seller of gas to Europe, Energy Intelligence Group quotes.

"Our purpose is not to re-sell," Duzyol said. Turkey will serve as a transit route offering the European market access to Caspian and Middle Asian suppliers.

"Our main goal is to open a new [energy] corridor for access to new sources," he said appreciating Azerbaijan's intentions to supply gas to the Nabucco pipeline.
