Kazakhstan, Astana, 6 March /corr. Trend K.Konirova / The issue of filling up the Odessa-Brody-Plotsk pipeline with Kazakh oil has always been a key issue for Kazakhstan because the Country understands Ukraine's interest in the energy resources, said the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, to a joint press-conference with the President of Ukraine, Victor Yushenka, on 6 March, Trend Special Correspondent in Astana reports.

"Possessing large resources, Kazakhstan can potentially satisfy this demand by Ukraine for oil and the main fact is that the Country has a wish to satisfy this demand. The main issue is the transportation," Nazarbayev said.

Currently the key transportation of Kazakh oil is being carried out through the Transneft via KTK (Tengiz-Novorossiysk) pipeline. Kazakhstan wishes to increase the capacity of the pipeline up to 40mln tons from the current 23mln tons. "The issue of filling up the Odessa-Brody pipeline with Kazakh oil still remains open. There is an alternative way to resolve the issue of filling the Odessa-Brody pipeline with oil and that is to exit to the Black Sea via Baku," Nazarbayev said.

Kazakhstan purchased Georgian Black Sea Port of Batumi and the terminals will ensure transportation of "our oil to Ukraine and Europe", he said. "We are continuously working on this issue and will resolve it," the President said.

According to the President of Ukraine, Victor Yushenka, Azerbaijan is a real oil supplier for Ukraine.
