Azerbaijan, Baku, 20 March / Trend / This year it is planned to launch the construction of the railway within the framework of commissioning the Baku-Tbilisi - Kars route, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated on 20 March addressing the public during the Novruz festivities in Baku.
"This is the great historical victory," Aliyev said with respect to the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project. This project will be beneficial from the political, economic, regional and other aspects.
Azerbaijan is currently participating in ensuring energy security of the European countries and its participation in this process will be expanded, the head of state assured.
At present Azerbaijan's task is to develop the non-oil sector of economy and establish strong non-oil potential. The Azerbaijani economy should be multilateral and not depend on oil prices, Aliyev said.
The President spoke about the successful implementation of regional development program, directed at the development of entrepreneurship, agriculture and other fields of Azerbaijani economy.
