USA Decreases Oil Import from Azerbaijan in January

Azerbaijan, Baku, 30 March / Trend / In January 2008, the United States imported 1.864mln barrels of oil from Azerbaijan, while in January 2007 it was 2.677mln tons, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported.

In 2007, the United States imported from Azerbaijan 20.643mln barrels of oil, and in 2006 the amount comprised 9.744mln barrels.

The main export route for transportation of Azerbaijan's oil is the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline which pumps oil to the Turkish port Ceyhan.

Azerbaijan's high-gravity oil was also exported from the Georgian port Supsa to which it is transported through the Baku-Supsa pipeline. Presently, the pipeline is being repaired. Oil is also transported from the Georgian port Batumi at the Black Sea to which it is transported through the railway, as well as from the Russian Novorossiysk port to which it is transported via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline.
