Karasu Operating Company to Obtain Subsurface Pump for Testing in September

Azerbaijan, Baku, 24 July/ Trend , corr E. Ismayilov/ Karasu Operating Company, developing the contract field of Mishovdag-Kalamaddin, will obtain five US made screw subsurface pumps which will be leased by Shelfgazrteknologiya LLC for testing, the company said. The operating company is expected to lease 40 pumps if the testing yields good results.

"In September we plan to test five US made pumps and if the testing is success, we will lease 40 screw pumps next year," the company said. The screw and submersible pumps are introduced for the wells which contain high level of mechanical mixtures (for instance, sand).

Shelfgazteknologiya will lease 30 rotary submersible pumps to Karasu Operating Company annually in line with a contract until 2010. The contract costs AZN2mln a year.

The contract on the development of fields was signed on 12 October 2000. The participants of the project are Nations Energy - 85%, and SOCAR - 15%.

The contract was originally signed for 2 years (AZN2mln a year) with Shirvan oil on lease of about 30 rotary pumps a year.

The participants of Shirvan oil operating company are SOCAR (49%) and Kaspian Enerji Qrup (51%). The company deals with the development and share of production from onshore Kurovdag field.
