Azerbaijan, Baku, 27 August / Trend / Botas, Turkish state-run pipe company imported 2.62bln cu m gas from Azerbaijan from January to July 2008, which is more by 1.34bln cu m compared to the whole 2007.
Azerbaijan exports gas, produced from the offshore Shah Daniz field, to Turkey via the South Caucasian pipeline.
In January to July, Botas imported about 22.8bln cu m gas to the country from different sources, against 36.5bln cu m gas in 2007. Turkey imported 14.08bln cu m gas from Russia, which is less by 9bln cu m compared to 2007, and 2.3bln cu m gas from Iran, against 6.2bln in 2007.
From January to July, Turkey imported 2.74bln cu m gas from Algeria and 717mln cu m natural gas from Nigeria
The contract to develop the offshore Shah Daniz field was signed on 4 June 1996. Contract participants are: BP (operator) - 25.5%, Statoil - 25.5%, NICO - 10%, Total - 10%, LukAgip - 10%, TPAO - 9% and SOCAR - 10%.
