Azerbaijan not to Transport Oil via Odessa-Brody without Exact Determination of Ukrainian Regime for Pipeline’s Operation

Trend E.Ismaylov / Until now Azerbaijan did not carry out transportation of 470,000 tons of oil of Odessa-Brody pipeline because yet Ukraine itself decides the question how to use this route - in avers or reverse direction, said the Minister of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan Natig Aliyev.

This oil had to be delivered to Ukraine, to be processed and received oil products to be realized to obtain information on the economic expedience of the transportation of the Caspian oil via this route, the Minister said.

Currently feasibility study of this route of oil transportation is being devised. In November Energy Summit will take place in Baku, where questions of the economic expedience of this project "will be more clear in some degree," Aliyev said.

Main oil pipeline Odessa-Brody was built in 2001. It was not used for several years. At the end June 2004 the Government of Ukraine permitted to use the pipeline for the transportation of Russian oil in the reverse regime. For the realization of the project on construction of the section of oil pipeline Brody-Plotsk, Sarmatiya JV was established to be attended by Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Poland, Georgia and Lithuania. The basic directions of the activity of company are to prepare project-estimate documentation, attract investments, ensure construction work.
