factory named after Heydar Aliyev of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR)
plans to begin construction of the first block of a two-block platform by the
end of January. The platform will include a gas-compressor station required to press
and transport to the land the low pressure gas from the offshore Gunashli-4
platform, a source at SOCAR close to work said on Jan. 5.
After the launch of the station, roughly 300,000 cu m per day of casing head
gas from Gunashli-4, located in the shallow part of the Gunashli field, will be
extracted and transported to the shore under high pressure (up to 40
atmospheres), SOCAR said earlier.
"Now the Factory is waiting for materials needed for the construction of the
block. Construction is scheduled to begin by the end of January," said the
source. Construction of the second block will be carried out by the
Neftegazstroy trust.
Launch of this station will allow SOCAR to collect and transport to the shore
the gas which was previously released into the atmosphere due to the lack of
adequate infrastructure. The project will also have beneficial impact on the
environment.
The supplier of the equipment for the station is Germany's Siemens, SOCAR said earlier.
