Gulf Drilling Supply co to drill onshore well in Azerbaijan

In the second half of March, Gulf Drilling Supply FZE company of the United Arab Emirates plans to drill production wells for Azgerneft Joint Venture (JV) which develops Balakhani-Sabunchu-Ramana field in Azerbaijan, Director of the company's Baku Office Ilham Babayev said on Feb. 3.

Depth of the well will be 2,250 meters.

Azgerneft's co-founders are the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (Socar) - 40 percent, Grunwald&Co - 30 percent and GI&EM - 30 percent.

In the first half of February, Gulf Drilling plans to drill production wells for Surakhani oil which develops onshore fields of Azerbaijan. Depth of the will be 2,300 meters.

The company will use ZJ-30 installation of the Chinese production during drilling which maximum depth will reach 3,000 meters.

Gulf Drilling spent roughly 15 million manats to purchase installations in 2008, the Baku Office said. The purchased installations include equipment for capital repair of well, as well as technologies and equipment to improve intensity of oil recovery in wells.
