In 2008, Socar hit record volume of refining in oil industry, which comprised 75 percent, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (Socar) reported.
In 2008 roughly 7.5 million tons of oil were sent for refining. In 2007 7.6 million tons was sent for refining.
Azerbaijan exported 55.2% of its total oil products. The rest 44.8 percent was sold in the domestic market.
Petrol products in Azerbaijan are manufactured at two Baku oil refineries with a total capacity of 20 million tons of oil per year. Socar owns both refineries and refines an annual 6 million tons of oil produced from onshore and offshore fields with its own funds.
Last year, the Baku Gas Refinery processed 4.7 billion cubic meters of gas.
