Shell supports all pipeline projects, including the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) and Kazakhstan Caspian Transportation System (KCTS), Shell Kazakhstan Office General Director Campbell Keir said.

"We stick to a diverse approach like the Kazakhstan government. Our priority at this stage is to develop the CPC project in light of signed agreements to expand its capacity," he said.

The company also supports the KCTS, he said.

"We are engaged in discussing the KCTS with the government. We believe that all possible options should be considered," Keir said.

As to the probability that Shell may pump Kazakh oil via a pipeline to China, Keir said the company has three options - to extend the CPC, establish the KCTS or transport oil via railway.

"Even if both projects are delayed, there will be an opportunity to deliver oil to the West by rail. Our priorities are very clear and specific. First we intend to expand the CPC, then to construct the KCTS, and finally to use the railway," Keir added.
