Special manager appointed in KazTransGaz Tbilisi

Georgia's national energy regulatory commission appointed Temur Kopaliani special manager of KazTransGaz Tbilisi JSC, Zurab Janjgava, head of Oil and Gas Corporation, said at the end of the commission's meeting.

The reason of such a decision was loan indebtedness of big amounts accumulated by the company, he said. Indebtedness totals over 80 million lari, 68 million must be paid to the Oil and Gas Corporation for natural gas.

Talks on indebtedness were held with the Kazakh side several times. Georgia's Energy Minister and Director General of the Oil and Gas Corporation visited Astana in February.

"The national energy regulatory commission appointed special manager to KazTransGaz Tbilisi because of occurred situation and to provide uninterrupted gas supply in Tbilisi."

Special manager will work in the company until financial situation improves and indebtedness is paid. He will temporarily manage the company.

"Share holding of KazTransGaz Tbilisi and property assets will remain in the company's property," Guram Chalagashvili, chairman of the commission said.

It is temporary meeting to provide uninterrupted gas supply of the capital and improve financial state of the company, he said. Special manager will immediately complete activity in case of complete fulfillment of financial obligations and management appointed by owners will continue to manage the company," Chalagashvili said.
