Azerbaijan, Baku, June 5 / Trend /

SOCAR (the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) and foreign companies developing bloc of offshore fields Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and Shah Deniz delivered 5 billion cubic meters of gas in January-May compared to 4.4 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2008, SOCAR said on June 5.

Roughly 2.8 billion cubic meters of total volume of gas delivered to the state fell on SOCAR but the rest 2.2 billion fell on Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and Shah Deniz fields.

Roughly 882 million cubic meters of gas were delivered to the state in May, 533 million cubic meters fell on SOCAR. The rest 348.6 million cubic meters fell on fields developed by foreign companies.

Casing-head gas extracted within Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli development is delivered to SOCAR without payment. Part of SOCAR's gas falls on share holding of the company in the contract within development of Shah Deniz field but the rest part of fuel is bought by the company.

SOCAR intends to deliver 7 billion cubic meters of gas to the state in 2009. These volumes of gas will be extracted from fields developed independently, head of the company Rovnag Abdullayev said.

Azeri Light oil is extracted in Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field. This oil is exported via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, as well as casing-head gas.

Daily gas production hits 20-24 million cubic meters in Shah Deniz field. Roughly 9 billion cubic meters of gas is planned to extract in this field in 2009. These volumes will be sold to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.
