BP thrice increases estimates of proved gas reserves in Turkmenistan

As for Jan. 1, 2009, the proved gas reserves in Turkmenistan amount to 7.94 trillion cubic meters compared to 2.43 trillion cubic meters on Jan. 1 in 2008, BP reported.  

The volume of the proved gas reserves in Turkmenistan amount to 4.3 percent of the world's gas reserves in early 2009, BP's statistical review on the world energy said.

According to BP's estimates, gas production in Turkmenistan was 66.1 billion cubic meters in 2008 which is by 0.7 percent more than production in 2007.

Gas consumption in Turkmenistan reduced by 10.9 percent and amounted to 19 billion cubic meters in 2008, BP reported.

The proved oil reserves in Turkmenistan was 0.6 billion barrels as for Jan. 1, 2009 which coincides with BP's estimates for early 2008.

Oil production in Turkmenistan was 205,000 barrels per day in 2008 which is by 3.8 percent more than in 2007, the company reported.

Oil consumption in the country upped by 1.7 percent and was 123,000 barrels per day in 2008.
