BP ups estimation of Iran's proved gas reserves

As of Jan. 1, 2009, Iran's proved gas reserves totaled 29.61 trillion cubic meters, 1.48 trillion cubic meters more than the figure of early 2008, BP world energy outlook said.

According to the BP estimations, Iran's proved gas reserves made up 16 percent of world gas reserves as of early 2009.

Iran's gas output totaled 116.3 billion cubic meters in 2008, a rise of 3.6 percent from 2007.

Iran's gas consumption increased 3.8 percent and totaled 117.6 billion cubic meters in 2008.

As of Jan. 1, 2009, Iran's proved oil reserves was 137.6  billion barrels, 600 million barrels less than the figure in early 2008. Iran's proved oil reserves made up 10.9 percent of world oil reserves in early 2009.

Iran's oil output was 4.325 million barrels per day in 2008, 0.2 percent less than the figure of 2007.  

Oil consumption increased 2.1 percent and totaled 1.73 million barrels per day in 2008, the BP outlook said.
