Azerenergy JSC (the biggest electric power producer in Azerbaijan) was supplied with 2.1 billion cubic meters of gas to use as fuel in In Jnauary-May 2009 compared to 1.9 billion cubic meters within the same period of 2008, SOCAR (the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) supplying Azerenergy with gas said.
Azerenergy received about 321 million cubic metre of gas in May.
Azerenergy was supplied with 5 billion cubic meters of gas in 2008. This index hit 3.4 billion in 2007.
SOCAR directly sells own gas to Azerenergy JSC. Earlier SOCAR conducted this operation via Azerigaz JSC (sale and distribution of gas in Azerbaijan).
Azerenergy has low payment for gas supplied by Azerigaz. In its turn, Azerigaz has debts towards SOCAR for fuel.
Presently, Azerigaz only transports gas to electric power stations
