Azerkimiya, Petkim mull cooperation perspectives

The Azerkimiya State Company for Chemical Products and Turkish petrochemical Petkim company discussed cooperation and its further development in Baku,the state company reported.

The issues were discussed during the meeting of the president Azerkimiya Majid Karimov and Petkim Vice-President Bulent Sunay in Baku.

During the meeting, the Turkish businessmen acquainted with a project of establishing a new plant for petrochemical products and fertilizers production in Azerbaijan.

The new petrochemical complex assumes to build to crude installation cleaning gas via separation and installation for the production of ammonia and urea, installation of steam-cracking, multiple installations for the production of different types of olefins, polyolefins and aromatic petrochemicals.

Products manufactured at these facilities will meet the country's domestic demand, providing other branches of the national economy with construction materials, plastic pipes and profiles, paints, varnishes and solvents, reactants, rubber and synthetic materials in various fields, furniture accessories, many domestic equipment with industrial and domestic capacities.

SOCAR/Turcas/Injaz/ Projects has acquired 51% share of Petkim chemical concern at $2.04bln. Turkey currently imports 70-75 percent of chemical products, but SOCAR/Turcas/Injaz investments in development of Petkim enables to reduce import of products up to 30 percent.

Petkim Petrokimya Holding manufactures plastic packaging, fabric, PVC, washing substances and is the only manufacturer in Turkey of such products, 1-4 of which the company exports.
