Azerbaijan, Baku, July 3 / Trend , A.Badalova/
Azerbaijan will play an important role in providing future energy supplies to Europe, Vice-President of the German company on development of fields Manfred Dworatzek said at the opening ceremony of the RWE Baku office.
"Azerbaijan has large reserves of natural resources, especially oil and gas," Dworatzek said.
Dworatzek said Azerbaijan as an energy exporter country will also play an important role in implementing the planned Nabucco pipeline that will transport gas from the Caspian region to the EU countries. The RWE company is one of six shareholders of the project consortium.
Dworatzek said RWE can use its experience in developing the shallow part of fields in the country. "We have already launched initial talks with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in this regard," Dworatzek said.
He said by opening an office in Baku, RWE undertakes a long-term commitment. "We hope that our company will be an interesting partner for Azerbaijan," Dworatzek said.
Dworatzek said RWE intends to become an active partner of Azerbaijan, and having a very rich experience in field development, intends to introduce its know-how in the country.
