Construction of Turkish section of Nabucco requires over 50% of project expenses

Direct investment in the construction of the Turkish section of the Nabucco pipeline is expected to worth €4.5 billion euro, representing nearly 57 percent of the total project expenses at €7.9 billion, the official Web site of Nabucco Gas Pipeline int. reported.

The length of the Turkish section of Nabucco will be the biggest - 2,000 kilometers, representing 60 percent of the total length of the pipeline.

"Turkey, like other countries involved in the project will receive significant benefits from tax deductions from the Nabucco Gas Pipeline," the Web site reported.

In the first phase in 2014, Nabucco Gas Pipeline expects to transport 8 billion cubic meters of gas through the pipeline, bringing this volume to 15 billion cubic meters in 2018. At a later stage, gas transportation via the pipeline is expected to be 25-31 billion cubic meters per year.

The shareholders of the Nabucco project are Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE - 16.67 percent for each.
