Including Azerigas Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) (natural gas distributor of Azerbaijan) in the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) will allow to solve all problems with gas in all regions of the country in 2010, head of State Gas Control Department at the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Ministry, Asif Zeynalov, said on July 27.
Including Azerigas into SOCAR will enable to solve gas problems in 2010, because SOCAR have all opportunities for it, Zeynalov said.
Elimination of structural division will also reduce loss of gas, which occurred during gas transportation from SOCAR systems to Azerigas systems. It is normal when the company itself produces and sells natural gas, Zeynalov said.
Zeynalov did not rule possible revision in gas prices for community consumers, which earlier (before the including of Azerigas in SOCAR) increased from 47 manat per 1,000 cubic meters to 100 manat.
"I appreciate this transformation as a positive step, because it will significantly improve the quality of gas supply in the country. As fewer structural divisions there are, as more positive results will be," Zeynalov said.
SOCAR has done structural transformations. In accordance with SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev's orders, Azerigas production association was established on the basis of Azerigas CJSC (distribution and sale of gas) which was given SOCAR. Akbar Hajiyev, who previously served as director of the Azneftyag refinery, was appointed head of the production association.
