Batumi Oil Terminal issued int'l certificates

The Batumi Oil Terminal Ltd, which offers services for transportation of oil and petroleum products to Batumi, has been issued an international certificates of conformity to international standards ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management System) and OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational health and safety management systems), the Ltd. said.

The Batumi Oil Terminal Ltd, which offers services for transportation of oil and petroleum products to Batumi, has been issued an international certificates of conformity to international standards ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management System) and OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational health and safety management systems), the Ltd. said.

The Bureau Veritas company supervised the certification.

The main directions of the Batumi Oil Terminal Ltd are to provide services for delivery of crude oil, petroleum products and liquefied hydrocarbon gas to meet the requirements of all interested parties. This company seeks to continuously improve working conditions and industrial safety and carry out large-scale environmental activities aimed at softening the negative impacts of historical and current factors to the environment.

"Our company launched the certification process in mid-2006. Since then, we have had vigorous activities, developed and applied procedures, conducted a risk assessment, organized activities to minimize negative impacts on the environment. I would like to thank our employments, who have made invaluable contributions to this work. We are proud to receive three certificates at the same time. It has become possible due to our group cohesion, strong corporate spirit and good management," director general of the terminal Temirkhan Abdirov said.

The Batumi Oil Terminal Ltd increased domestic requirement, held training for personnel and re-engineering of internal processes as part of the management systems, determined mechanisms of environmental management and industrial risks due to development and apply of the management systems.

"This is the second in the history of Bureau Veritas and the first company in Georgia, which could simultaneously receive three standards. We are very proud of the results," the Bureau Veritas said.

In February 2008, KazTransOil (a subsidiary of KazMunayGas) acquired 100 percent of shares of the Batumi Industrial Holdings Limited, which is one of the main production units of Batumi Oil Terminal.
