SOCAR to establish platform in Russian sector of Caspian Sea

The Azerbaijan crane vessel of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) Caspian Sea Oil Fleet will install a new oil platform at the Yuri Korchagin field, developed by LUKOIL in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea, SOCAR said. Weight of the new platform is 950 tons.

The crane with the capacity of 2,500 tons has left for the installation place of the platform. The crane is transported to the field by SOCAR towing ship, Andoga. The crane will fix the platform to the seabed.

At present, the platform built in Astrakhan, is loading on the self-dumping log barge STB-1, also owned by SOCAR.

The Yuri Korchagin field located in100 miles of Astrakhan.

The Azerbaijan and Andoga vessels rented for 60 days under good weather conditions.

Towing ships of the Caspian Sea Oil Fleet, including Aura, Om, Lyutoga and Vadim Seyidov sailed to the field.
