Azerbaijan, Baku, September 2 / Trend , E.Ismailov /

SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) is considering a new normative document, envisaging quality standards for naphthenic acids produced at the Refinery named after Heydar Aliyev, a source said at the Institute of Petrochemical Processes named after Y.H.Mamedaliyev, which prepared this normative document.

Prepared regulatory document on production includes all indicators of quality in accordance with which the product must be made.

"The regulations have already been considered by all the relevant ministries, particularly ministries of ecology, health and emergency situations. Currently the document is under consideration of SOCAR," the same source said.

Naphthenic acids are used as solvents, polymers, dyes and rubber as components of varnishes, as antiseptics, additives for printing inks and motor fuels.
Naphthenic acids are obtained at the refinery as a result of processing of diesel and jet fuel alkalis.

Naphthenic acids are maintained in oils, but their number is usually insignificant (from 0.01 to 2-3 percent on mass). Oil of Azerbaijan (up 1.7 percent), as well as some types of oil of Venezuela, Romania and the United States are rich with naphthenic acids.
